The Northern Highlands Highlanders waltzed into their match Saturday with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with a 45-36 victory over West Milford. Given Northern Highlands' advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while West Milford is ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, West Milford still got an impressive performance from Laurel Space, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Fritz, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Northern Highlands' win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for West Milford, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Northern Highlands will head out on the road to face off against Ridgewood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgewood is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for West Milford, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lakeland Regional at 5:30 p.m. Lakeland Regional is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
