Softball Recap: Muskego Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Muskego came tearing into Wednesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Waukesha South Blackshirts a 20-0 shutout. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Kyleigh Sadler and Chloe Lago were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Sadler tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lago tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sadler has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Sadler went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Lago got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Lago a new career-high.

In other batting news, Reese Heinrich and Samantha Brunner did most of the damage at the plate: Heinrich went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Brunner went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI Heinrich has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Neibrand, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Muskego pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Waukesha South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Muskego has already played their next game (against Waukesha North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Waukesha South, they are taking a road trip to face off against Arrowhead at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
