Southington is a perfect 4-0 against Berlin since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Blue Knights will look to defend their home field against the Redcoats at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Southington sitting on three straight wins and Berlin on seven.
Southington had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Bristol Eastern on Wednesday. The Blue Knights blew past the Lancers 8-2. Considering the Blue Knights have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Angie Insogna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Reagan Salvatore was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 games. Aubrey Perugini was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.
Southington hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bristol Eastern struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Berlin faced Enfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Redcoats came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 4-1.
The team relied heavily on Julia Matan, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Izzy Andersen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.
Berlin pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Southington, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Berlin struggles in that department as they've averaged .412. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southington took their win against Berlin in their previous meeting on May 14th by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Blue Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redcoats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
