Baseball Recap: River Oaks Continues Road Dominance on Friday

While River Oaks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Union Christian Academy Lions 12-4 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jackson Shows was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.8 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Vanderberg, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.

River Oaks was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

River Oaks pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Union Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Oaks will host Franklin Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Franklin Academy's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Union Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Briarfield Academy at 5:00 p.m. on March 24th.
