Basketball Game Preview: Red Mesa Redskins vs. Ash Fork Spartans

Red Mesa has gone 4-0 against Ash Fork recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Red Mesa Redskins will be playing at home against the Ash Fork Spartans at 3:00 p.m.

Last Thursday, Red Mesa lost to Rock Point at home by a 65-51 margin.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Shyla Pipkin, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2024. Ashley Jones was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Ash Fork hadn't done well against Grand Canyon recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Ash Fork took their contest with ease, bagging a 57-21 victory over Grand Canyon. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.

Ash Fork is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.2 points. As for Red Mesa, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-12.

Red Mesa didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Ash Fork in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 49-43 win. Will Red Mesa repeat their success, or does Ash Fork have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
