The Alcuin Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 73-21 loss at the hands of Garland Christian Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Alcuin in their matchups with the Swordsmen: they've now lost seven in a row.
Caden Sandlin was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 45 points and nine steals for Garland Christian Academy. Sandlin is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least five every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Noah Doddy, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Alcuin's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.6 points per game. As for Garland Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Alcuin will be playing at home against the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Garland Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dallas International comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
