The Gustine Reds''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Orestimba, falling 49-7. Gustine was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-0.
Juan Esquivez was his usual excellent self, rushing for 130 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Esquivez hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games.
Gustine's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Orestimba, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Gustine will head out on the road to face off against Rio Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rio Vista knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Gustine likes a good challenge. As for Orestimba, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Highlands at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Highlands is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
