Fordham Prep fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Xavier on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to the Xavier Knights. The Rams' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Fordham Prep's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Toomer, who went 6 of 13 en route to 20 points and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Kapfer, who posted 15 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Fordham Prep's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2. As for Xavier, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fordham Prep will venture away from home to square off against St. Edmund Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Xavier, they will head out to take on Monsignor McClancy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
