Denver Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Everything went their way against Crowley County as they made off with a 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Mason Reilly made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Stork, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Sam Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Denver Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Fowler sidestepped Byers for a 7-5 win.
Like Denver Christian, Fowler also got a great game from a two-way player: Brock True. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. True was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Hagen McCuistion was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Bryce Froman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Denver Christian's record now sits at 16-8. As for Fowler, their record is now 20-2.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Denver Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Fowler struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
