The Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles will challenge the ALA - West Foothills Guardians at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
ALA - West Foothills will be up against a hot Bourgade Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to nine. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Benjamin Franklin on Monday.
Camila Quinonez spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Bourgade Catholic let Brianna Torres and Maya Macias run wild. Torres went 2-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Macias got on base in four of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Torres has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Olivia Durazo, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Bourgade Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benjamin Franklin only posted an OBP of .385.
Meanwhile, ALA - West Foothills got the win against Holbrook on Wednesday by a conclusive 17-2.
Ava LaHair made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. LaHair was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ave Risati was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Madelyn Caines was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
ALA - West Foothills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.4 runs over those games. As for Bourgade Catholic, they pushed their record up to 23-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bourgade Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like ALA - West Foothills struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bourgade Catholic couldn't quite finish off ALA - West Foothills in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Will the Golden Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road?
