Kensington Lakes - North recap October 22, 2013
Kettering moved up to 60 from 170 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Kensington Lakes - North. The Captains were able to move up by defeating Pinckney 42-41.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Walled Lake Western beat Grand Blanc 45-27. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Warriors.
Walled Lake Western's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kyle Bambard threw for 42 yards and Jonathan Simmons had 42 yards receiving. On the ground Bambard chipped in 227 yards.
Bambard was a force in the backfield as Michael Zdebski's team topped the Bobcats.
Bambard was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 227 yards on 24 carries as the Warriors beat Grand Blanc. James LaLonde also contributed to the rushing game with 177 yards on the ground.
5-foot-9 quarterback Bambard of Walled Lake Western is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,299. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Chris Cliff. The Walled Lake Northern star has 22 catches for 517 yards.
P.j. Kern of the Walled Lake Northern is just 99 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 141 carries Kern has put up 901 yards this year.
The Warriors were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Joe Delaney's team. Walled Lake Western came in at 15 in the state poll after placing at number 42 last week.
