Mesquite is 10-0 against Seton Catholic since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Mesquite Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Seton Catholic Sentinels at 7:00 p.m. Mesquite knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 games -- so hopefully Seton Catholic likes a good challenge.
On Tuesday, Mesquite faced St. Mary's in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mesquite fell just short of St. Mary's by a score of 75-73. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (61), Mesquite still had to take the loss.
The losing side was boosted by Desean Middlebrook, who scored 28 points along with nine rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jaylen Wollangk was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Seton Catholic ended up a good deal behind Saguaro on Tuesday and lost 59-43.
Mesquite's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5. As for Seton Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
Everything came up roses for Mesquite against Seton Catholic in their previous matchup two weeks ago as the squad secured a 68-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mesquite since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
