On Wednesday, the Centennial Bulldogs faced the Bishop Gorman Gaels in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Centennial was dealt a 82-54 loss at the hands of Bishop Gorman. Centennial has struggled against Bishop Gorman recently, as their match on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Centennial saw an underclassman step up: Gavin Ahlstrom scored 12 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ Nance, who scored 11 points.
Centennial now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Bishop Gorman, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centennial won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Coronado at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Coronado has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,641 points over their last 23 contests. As for Bishop Gorman, they will head out on the road to take on Notre Dame (SO) at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Notre Dame (SO) is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
