The Harvest Community Warriors will face off against the Windermere Prep Lakers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Harvest Community 3.8, Windermere Prep 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Harvest Community had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Trinity Christian Academy put an end to it on Tuesday. The Warriors came up short against the Conquerors, falling 10-0. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Warriors, who until this contest were averaging 3.83 runs allowed.
Meanwhile, Windermere Prep waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lakers, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Vanessa Nawracaj made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Goldberg, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Konstand, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Windermere Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Master's Academy only posted an OBP of .222.
Windermere Prep's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Harvest Community, they moved to 15-3 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Harvest Community has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .548. However, it's not like Windermere Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .467. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
