The Wheeler Bearcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Oregon-Davis 55-50.
Wheeler's loss came despite strong showings from Nicholas Scott and Tyne Vettickal. Scott scored 19 points, while Vettickal scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Scott scored a full 38% of Wheeler's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Carter Blane, who scored 11 points.
Wheeler bumped their record down to 3-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Oregon-Davis, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-7.
Wheeler and Hobart will round out the year against one another at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at. Hobart will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Oregon-Davis will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on West Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
