An exciting East v. West battle is about to be fought. The Northeastern Jets are taking a road trip to take on the Northwestern Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Northeastern came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Tecumseh, falling 13-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Jets in their meetings with the Arrows: they've now lost three in a row.
Northeastern saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Shingler, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Northwestern posted their closest win since May 2, 2025 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Newton Local, sneaking past 7-6. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Amara Hastings made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. Hastings was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Emily Miller and Julia Shaw did most of the damage at the plate: Miller went 2-for-3 with three runs, while Shaw went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Ellee Hughes was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Northwestern's record now sits at 2-0. As for Northeastern, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Northeastern suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Northwestern in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. Can the Jets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
