Edgewood is 0-4 against Viera since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Edgewood Red Wolves will head out on the road to face off against the Viera Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Edgewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Last Friday, everything went Edgewood's way against West Shore as Edgewood made off with a 50-24 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Edgewood.
Edgewood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubrey Germain out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Alaina Preble was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Viera beat Vero Beach 42-33 on Friday.
Viera's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lauren Bell, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds. The matchup was Bell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Phantasia Lauriston, who scored 13 points.
Their wins bumped Edgewood to 3-2 and West Shore to 1-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's game: Edgewood have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Viera, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 per game. Given Edgewood's sizeable advantage in that area, Viera will need to find a way to close that gap. Edgewood was dealt a bruising 64-27 loss at the hands of Viera in their previous meeting back in January. Can Edgewood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
