The Kit Carson Wildcats were the 39-35 winner over the Idalia Wolves when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Kit Carson fell 40-30 to the Wolves on Saturday.
Kit Carson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payge Booker-rady, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Johnson, who scored six points.
Idalia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaylyn Kechter led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Kechter hasn't dropped below 11 rebounds for three straight games. Krista Wieser was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Kit Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Idalia, their victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3.
Kit Carson will challenge the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Evangel Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Idalia, they will be playing at home against the Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
