Lassen is 9-1 against Central Valley since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Lassen Grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Central Valley Falcons at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lassen has three straight victories, Central Valley has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Lassen posted their closest win yet this season on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Yreka out 53-51.
Lassen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Conner Finks led the charge by scoring ten points along with three steals. Finks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Tow, who scored six points along with two steals.
Central Valley suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They took a serious blow against University Prep, falling 79-26. While losing is never fun, Central Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1360th, while University Prep is ranked 424th).
Lassen's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Central Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-17.
Lassen took their win against Central Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 60-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lassen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
