The New West Charter Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against Middle College by a score of 52-44. For New West Charter, this counts as revenge for the 47-45 defeat the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New West Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Armon Behikeesh, who scored 19 points. Liam Hakimi was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
When it comes to explaining why Middle College lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lebron Hasan. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Hasan posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Amanze Njoku, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
New West Charter's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Middle College, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New West Charter will take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Stella High Charter Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Middle College, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Animo South Los Angeles comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
