The Brownfield Cubs fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Snyder by a score of 38-31 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Brownfield also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2020.
Brownfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kayleigh Saldana led the charge by scoring six points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kk Fininen, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Snyder's loss came despite strong showings from Peyten Grope and Jessica Crawford. Grope scored six points, while Crawford scored six points.
Brownfield's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11. As for Snyder, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-10.
Brownfield will be home for the holidays to greet Littlefield at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Littlefield presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brownfield in Texas (Littlefield is ranked 262nd, while Brownfield is ranked 897th). Snyder will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Burkburnett at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. Burkburnett will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
