The Thompson Tommies will head out on the road to challenge the South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley] Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Thompson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 284 points over their last four contests.
Thompson pushed their score all the way to 69 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grafton. While losing is never fun, Thompson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Grafton is ranked fifth).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Drew Overby, who scored 19 points along with four steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Brayden Wolfgram was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven assists.
South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley] only won by three when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 33-point they dealt Kidder County co-op [Steele/Tappen] on Thursday. South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley] blew past Kidder County co-op [Steele/Tappen], posting a 64-31 win on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley].
Thompson's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley], their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
