The Eau Gallie Commodores will head out on the road to face off against the Viera Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eau Gallie will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Eau Gallie barely beat Harmony the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Commodores were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Longhorns on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Commodores, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Eau Gallie got a massive performance out of Shyla Eppert, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Hannah Leech was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Eau Gallie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Viera didn't have quite enough to beat Hagerty on Friday and fell 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by exactly two runs.
Isabella Kapatoes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, Viera saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kamryn Potts, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.
Eau Gallie's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Viera, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eau Gallie hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Viera struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eau Gallie skirted past Viera 5-4 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Commodores since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
