For the first time this season, Antioch will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Wauconda Bulldogs at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Antioch is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
While Antioch didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Hoffman Estates on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sequoits.
Ben Clausen looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hunter Feldkamp was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Devine, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Antioch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Wauconda's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Lakes on Saturday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on Cary-Grove with a sharp 12-3 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by nine runs or more this season.
Dominic Ciaburri spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, Ryan Fostiak and Luke Sickmeir did most of the damage at the plate: Fostiak went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Sickmeir went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Wauconda is 4-1 when Fostiak posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Tyler Rosenberg was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Antioch pushed their record up to 7-4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Wauconda, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Antioch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like Wauconda struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Antioch suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Wauconda when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Sequoits have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
