The NCSSM: Durham Unicorns lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. They took a serious blow against Western Alamance, falling 67-17. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points NCSSM: Durham has scored all season.
Maren Donlon was NCSSM: Durham's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Western Alamance's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allie Sykes, who scored 17 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tina Bowers, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
This is the second loss in a row for NCSSM: Durham and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Western Alamance, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. NCSSM: Durham will take on Research Triangle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Western Alamance, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Williams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Williams focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday.
