Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pike Valley). They blew past the Natoma Tigers 70-45 on Tuesday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-20.
Pike Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Cooper, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Cooper is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Patterson, who went 5 of 7 en route to 14 points along with six boards and three steals.
Pike Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Natoma only posted four assists.
Despite the loss, Natoma saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Colton Prowse went 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points and four steals. Carsen Shadduck was another key player, putting up five points.
Pike Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Natoma, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Pike Valley will head out on the road to challenge Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Natoma, they will face off against Osborne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Natoma is facing Osborne at the right time seeing as Osborne is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
