The Bishop Kelley Comets and the Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Bishop Kelley Comets had to settle for second. The contest between the pair wasn't particularly close, with the Comets falling 28-14. Their defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Although Bishop Kelley took the loss, they still got scores from Stice Smith and Mason Mcfarlane.
Bishop McGuinness' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JP Spanier, who rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown. Damon Cochran ll was another key contributor, throwing for 204 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes.
Bishop Kelley's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Bishop McGuinness, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Bishop Kelley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bishop McGuinness will be playing in front of their home fans against Carl Albert at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carl Albert will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
