Washington is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Morgantown is on an eight-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Patriots will welcome the Mohigans at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Washington's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Morgantown's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Washington is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since May 7, 2024 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Steubenville 4-3.
Meanwhile, Morgantown got the win against Preston on Friday by a conclusive 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Mohigans, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
LIZ ALSOP made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Morgantown let GRACE ROBINSON and KAYLEIGH WHITE run wild. ROBINSON went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while WHITE went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave ROBINSON a new career-high. ANNE ROBINSON was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Morgantown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Morgantown has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Washington, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Washington skirted past Morgantown 1-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Mohigans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
