The Anton Bulldogs lost against the Whitharral Panthers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Anton was beaten by Whitharral 82-43. Anton has struggled against Whitharral recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whitharral to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nathaniel Sansom, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 19 rebounds. The game was Sansom's 16th in a row with at least ten points. Nomar Gomez was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Anton's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Whitharral, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season.
Anton will head out on the road to face off against Amherst at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Amherst is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Whitharral will take on Whiteface at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Whiteface will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1235th, while Whitharral is ranked 561st).
