Two dominant guards in Marcel Finkley and Ja'Corey Lipkins are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Austintown-Fitch Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the GlenOak Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Austintown-Fitch scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 73-64 win over Ursuline. The victory was all the more spectacular given Austintown-Fitch's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 20th).
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but GlenOak had to settle for a 82-80 defeat against the Polar Bears on Friday.
Austintown-Fitch pushed their record up to 10-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for GlenOak, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5.
Things could have been worse for Austintown-Fitch, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-37 loss to the Golden Eagles in their previous matchup back in February of 2023.
