The Ascend Leadership Aviators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 41-21 defeat at the hands of Woods Charter. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Ascend Leadership has suffered since December 1, 2023.
Woods Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caroline Mitchell, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Wesley Oliver, who scored 12 points.
Ascend Leadership dropped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.9 points per game. As for Woods Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 4-11.
Ascend Leadership will head out on the road to square off against Southern Wake Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Southern Wake Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last 12 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Woods Charter, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chatham Charter at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Chatham Charter will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
