Colonial extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-10. They lost 9-2 to the Freedom Patriots. If the Grenadiers were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Patriots when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Colonial saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jorge Reyes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
As for Freedom, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 2nd (when they won 12-5).
On Freedom's side, Anthony Unruh made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Unruh was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, John Paul Rodriguez Torres looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Freedom got a big performance out of Manuel Ocando, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs. The dominant performance also gave Ocando a new career-high in hits (two). Albert Abad was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Coming up, Colonial is taking a road trip to challenge Geneva at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Grenadiers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Freedom, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against South Lake at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
