Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saint Francis). They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over the Presentation Panthers on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Lancers as they're now sitting on 12 straight.
Hailey Nguyen tossed a big game, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Saint Francis let Ava Bulanti and Hayden Hummel run wild. Bulanti went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Hummel went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Hummel has posted since back in April of 2024. Jaime Oakland was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Saint Francis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Presentation only posted an OBP of .318.
Saint Francis' win was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Presentation, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
