Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ethan Saunders and Charlie Castaneda Lead Clover Garden School to Victory

Clover Garden School hadn't done well against River Mill recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Clover Garden School Grizzlies blew past the River Mill Jaguars 56-34. The Grizzlies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Clover Garden School to victory were Charlie Castaneda and Ethan Saunders. Castaneda dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards, while Saunders dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Those 17 points gave Castaneda a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden DeAlto, who posted seven points in addition to nine boards and three steals.

Clover Garden School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 34 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Clover Garden School's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for River Mill, their loss was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-20.

When Clover Garden School and River Mill next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Clover Garden School will challenge Chatham Charter and their four-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clover Garden School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season. Similarly, River Mill will try to stop Southern Wake Academy's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
