The Estill County Engineers will head out on the road to square off against the Lewis County Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Estill County had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Model on Wednesday. The Engineers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Patriots a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Engineers have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Friend was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bryce Drake was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Hayden Woolery was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Estill County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Model only posted an OBP of .176.
Meanwhile, Lewis County got the win against Bracken County on Wednesday by a conclusive 16-4. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Polar Bears: they've now won six in a row.
Estill County has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Lewis County, their record now sits at 6-20.
Estill County was able to grind out a solid victory over Lewis County when the teams last played back in April, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Engineers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
