The Chase Trojans will challenge the R-S Central Hilltoppers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chase is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Chase managed to slip by Burns the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Chase lost 15-2 to Burns on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
A'Mya Phillips made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, R-S Central was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Polk County by a score of 6-3. The Hilltoppers haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Olivia Harris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Harris was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Layna Jeffords and Alexis Nanney did most of the damage at the plate: Jeffords scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Nanney scored a run while going 2-for-4. Corean Booth was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
With the defeat, Chase broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for R-S Central, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Chase has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. However, it's not like R-S Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .431. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chase came out on top in a nail-biter against R-S Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Does Chase have another victory up their sleeve, or will R-S Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
