Stratford is 5-0 against Sanford-Fritch since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Stratford Elks have the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome the Sanford-Fritch Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on October 20th. Stratford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 214 points over their last five contests.
Last Friday, Stratford's game was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 34-22 win over Panhandle.
Julio Valdez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while also picking up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown. Valdez's longest rush was for an incredible 95 yards. Another player making a difference was Bryce Braden, who rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Stratford's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Braden and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Sanford-Fritch, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They took a serious blow against Farwell on Friday, falling 47-6. Sanford-Fritch was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-0.
Stratford's victory was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-1 Sunray and 9-3 Farwell (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.4% over those games). As for Sanford-Fritch, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Everything came up roses for Stratford against Sanford-Fritch when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 51-0 victory. Will Stratford repeat their success, or does Sanford-Fritch have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
