Berkeley Prep is 9-1 against Carrollwood Day since February of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Berkeley Prep will welcome Carrollwood Day at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Berkeley Prep 2.3, Carrollwood Day 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, Berkeley Prep needed a bit of extra time to put away Northside Christian. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Mustangs.

Jett Walters made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Herrmann, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Riley Zinober, who scored four runs.
Meanwhile, Carrollwood Day beat Cambridge Christian 6-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won three in a row.
Gabe Troya tossed a big game, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Carrollwood Day let Julian Earle and Allen Soriano run wild. Earle scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Soriano scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Berkeley Prep is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. Carrollwood Day's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Berkeley Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Carrollwood Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Berkeley Prep took their win against Carrollwood Day in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0. Does Berkeley Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carrollwood Day turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
