Pathie Speicher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jolee Hawkins was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Lex Myers was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Eastbrook gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Lewis Cass as they made off with a 15-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Kings: they've now won four in a row.
Delanie Elliott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Elliott was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleigh Perry, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braelee McNutt, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Eastbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 10-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Oak Hill pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Eastbrook, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Oak Hill has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433.
