On Friday, The Hill City Ringnecks faced the Clifton-Clyde Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Hill City took a 84-78 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clifton-Clyde. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (48), Hill City still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Hill City still got an impressive performance from Aiden Amrein, who rushed for 242 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 291 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Amrein hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayton Stephen, who picked up 256 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Hill City's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Clifton-Clyde, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Hill City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Clifton-Clyde will face off against Wichita County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wichita County comes in on nine and Clifton-Clyde on three.
