Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McCutcheon). They were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over West Lafayette on Friday. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Kaidynn Peckinpaugh made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. That's the most RBI Davis has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Wykoff, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
McCutcheon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Benton Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. However, it's not like McCutcheon struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Benton Central suffered a grim 17-6 defeat to McCutcheon when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Bison have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
