Nazareth Area is 8-2 against Easton Area since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Blue Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rovers at 4:00 p.m. Nazareth Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Nazareth Area got the win against Pocono Mountain East by a conclusive 12-3. The Blue Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Zak Novak tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Matt Daems, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Ethan Strawn was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Phillipsburg hit Easton Area with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rovers fell 9-6 to the Stateliners.
Chase Shollenberger made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kurtis Crossman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Nazareth Area pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Easton Area, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8.
