The Clay Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 40-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fairview. While losing is never fun, Clay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 717th in Ohio, while Fairview is ranked 248th in Kentucky).
Despite the loss, Clay saw an underclassman step up: Emma Emnett dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. The game was Emnett's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Madi Hobbs was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.
Clay's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Fairview, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 1-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clay will face off against Hannan at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairview, they will head out on the road to face off against Chesapeake at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
