Bear Lake and Marsh Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Bears will welcome the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bear Lake knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Marsh Valley likes a good challenge.
Bear Lake took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Soda Springs as they made off with a 15-5 win. Considering the Bears have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Brielle Romrell was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mckinley Humpherys, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bear Lake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Marsh Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 20-3 to American Falls. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 26, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Olivia Campbell made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Mckelle East was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Bear Lake has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs. As for Marsh Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9-1.
Marsh Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bear Lake has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Marsh Valley, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Bear Lake's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bear Lake got the 'W' when the teams last played on Friday against Marsh Valley by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
