The Pendleton County Wildcat will take on the Hampshire Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pendleton County has four straight victories, Hampshire has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Pendleton County beats Hampshire with 16 runs on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Everything went the Wildcat's way against Tygarts Valley on Thursday as they made off with a 16-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcat, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Hampshire came up short against Martinsburg on Wednesday and fell 7-3.
Erica Call spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

Hampshire's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Pendleton County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Hampshire, though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 strikeouts. Will Pendleton County keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
Everything went Pendleton County's way against Hampshire in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Pendleton County made off with a 9-1 win. Do the Wildcat have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
