Pittsburg is 2-8 against Columbus since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Titans at 4:30 p.m. Pittsburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.
Pittsburg took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Blue Valley West get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory.
Not much got past AnnaLynn Hudson, who gave up just four hits to keep Blue Valley West off the board. Hudson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brette Pasteur, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Meanwhile, Columbus earned a 6-3 win over Pittsburg. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Hailey Ediger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, Torey Tedlock was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylie Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Pittsburg pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Columbus, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Pittsburg came up short against Columbus in their previous meeting on Tuesday, falling 6-3. Will the Dragons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
