The Serra Catholic Eagles will square off against the Western Beaver Golden Beavers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
After a string of four wins, Serra Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by Steel Valley 54-14. While losing is never fun, Serra Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 348th, while Steel Valley is ranked 165th).
Although Serra Catholic took the loss, they still got scores from Mason Jones and De'reon Washington.
Meanwhile, Western Beaver put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 26-6 margin over Beaver Falls.
Western Beaver got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyson Florence out in front who rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Serra Catholic now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Western Beaver, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as the pair have no problem gaining yardage. Serra Catholic has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 374.6 total yards per game. However, it's not like Western Beaver struggles in that department as they've been averaging 353.4 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
