Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Laurel walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Northwood Gladiators with a sharp 87-61 victory on Tuesday. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Laurel's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amadou Kaloga, who went 10-for-20 to rack up 24 points and seven rebounds. The contest was Kaloga's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jermaine Taylor, who posted 26 points and six boards.

Laurel smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games.

Laurel has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Northwood has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 17 of their last 19 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-23 record this season.

Laurel wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-62 victory against Blair on the 6th. Northwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
