Another reason for the win was Avoyelles' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Kobe Smith with 2.5. Smith is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jarad De'Oliveira, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Avoyelles has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 174.1 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Bolton Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 70.7 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Avoyelles against Bolton Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
