The Granby Comets will take on the Currituck County Knights in a tournament on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Granby's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Booker T. Washington as they made off with a 13-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Mighty Bookers: they've now won nine in a row.

Anwynn Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more doubles the last three times she's played.
In other pitching news, AJ Lomogda looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Aerabella H was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kya Harris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Currituck County got the win against Pasquotank County on Thursday by a conclusive 13-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Like Granby, Currituck County also got a great game from a two-way player: Riley High. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. High was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Currituck County let Amelia Cervantes and Victoria Jones run wild. Cervantes scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Jones went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Cervantes also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Kaydence Hassell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Currituck County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.
Granby's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Currituck County, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Granby came out on top in a nail-biter against Currituck County in their previous meeting back in March, sneaking past 8-6. Do the Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
